Browser extension

Cite the tab you're on.

The CitePlain extension is the website's engine wired to your browser. One click, no URL paste.

Store links activate when the listings go live. MV3, free.

What it does

Same engine. Tab-native.

  1. 01

    Reads the active tab

The extension scrapes the page's citation_*, og:, dc:, and JSON-LD meta tags from the tab you're on. No copy-pasting URLs in and out.

  2. 02

    Edits before copy

If the publisher's metadata is sparse, fix author / year / title in a small panel before the citation hits your clipboard. The website does the same.

  3. 03

    BibTeX export, free

BibTeX with a stable cite key on the free tier. Paste straight into Overleaf or Zotero.

  4. 04

    DOI fallback

When a page has no clean metadata but exposes a DOI, the extension hits Crossref for the canonical record before formatting.

Free vs Pro

Free is the whole tool.

Pro adds breadth and sync; the core stays free, forever, with no sign-in.
